RUTH ADATIA

RUTH ADATIA was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She came to Britain in 1971.

She has published one collection of poetry - 'Two into One' (with Julie Kane) - Only Poetry Publications 1982.
RUTH ADATIA has returned to poetry after a gap of over twenty years - and she has returned with gusto. Setting herself the exercise to write a poem a day - Ruth used as inspiration the astronomical images of the Hubble telescope. Many of these poems are reproduced here - which makes her poetry truly 'interstellar'.

Yet she is touchingly earthbound too. 'Golden Flame', 'The Last Summer', and 'My Mother's Hair' are moving reflections of family life and adolescence.
She can also be amusing. 'Little Kitten' defies its tiny-ness and becomes, in its ginger fury, 'the secret weapon of the armies of the world'.

Her work is neat, clean-cut, expansive yet particular, and her reading voice has an attractive quality that is both edgy and warmly emotive.
