Dylan Jones did not begin to paint with any degree of seriousness
or application until he was well into his thirties.
By the time of his first exhibition of work (at Amgueddfa Ceredigion Museum in 1991 - and shared with local artists Eve Smith and Heather Allen) the paintings had begun to attain a certain distinctive quirkiness. The hallmark of their particular uniqueness was bound up in the numerous Umbrella-Headed figures that populated the imaginative landscapes of his work.
An example of this early work is 'To Church With Umbrellas'.
